coming full circle and returning to oneself

I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft…

Jim Morrison

This is a bit of a long story, but I want to share it with you because you are important, and what your care about matters to me. What you desire matters to me, so grab a cuppa and settle in, take my hand, and come on a little unknown journey with me…

This all may come as a shock to you, but here I am, 17 years old, sitting on the living room floor surrounded in vinyl, LP’s and 45’s scattered every which way as I delve into what song and what lyrics come next.

What am I doing?

The stranger’s psychic ability left me troubled…

‘NO’, I yelled against the vision before closing my eyes again, squeezing so tight they hurt. The shapely bronze legs were moving toward me, closer, and closer, and this time I finally saw who it was…

The above excerpt is where we left off from my first instalment of ‘Cats On The Temple Floor’ – if you want a reminder READ HERE.

What happens when a backpacker finds a sacred amulet?

“Bastet is a rarity. The Goddess of the moon and of the sun. She represents the duality in all women, docile yet aggressive, nurturing yet ferocious.”

Frances Conroy – Ophelia

Something a little different for you this week. I was going through old writing files, as you do, and I came across my novel of 120,000 words ‘Cats On The Temple Floor’ still yet to see the light of publishing day, but thought I might post an excerpt of somewhere in the middle of the novel. Here’s a small blurb…

When Rebekah, an Australian backpacker discovers a sacred amulet in Hezekiah’s tunnel, Jerusalem, she awakens the ancient Egyptian goddess, Bast. Rebekah is viciously attacked in the Garden of Gethsemane and Bast saves her life, but claims her soul in return, linking them inextricably through Rebekah’s dreams.

What if you’ve time travelled but didn’t know it…

“I loved you backward and forward in time. I loved you beyond boundaries of time and space.”

Dan Simmons, Endymion

SNAPSHOTS from Thailand

Photo: Wyld Photography
Location: Wat Po ~ Bangkok, Thailand (46m reclining Buddha, second largest Buddha in Thailand)

SNAPSHOT #101

What do you see?

Saffron and rice,
beneath the banyan tree
Emerald in a sea of green,
ornate Mother of Pearl
of 108 pictures of stories told
on the sole of Buddha's feet,
stories of the wise,
from times ancient and old.

Emerald corrosion as cohesive as
the bronze upon its wake,
of fevered feelings inside the
temple with an ornate snake.

What do you see?
I don't know,
for you are not me.
What do I see?
A splendour of green,
a labour of love,
often measured by strife,
bringing forth the innate treasure
of a sacred, and spiritual life.
